You may not have heard of NESO but you've probably heard of 'Net Zero'. NESO is the National Energy System Operator NESO.

NESO's Chief Economist, Mike Thompson, appeared on BBC Radio 4's ‘More or Less’ to tackle recent misinformation about the costs of reaching net zero. This episode is worth a listen.

You may have read or heard of the suggestion that the price tag for a Net-Zero energy system is £7.6 trillion. BBC Reporter, Tom Colls, explained why that's untrue:

"The gross cash outlay is not the cost of the big change - it's the cost of running the entire energy system for the next 25 years, in one scenario, where the Net Zero target is hit. And the entire cost of running the energy system for the next 25 years, if the net Zero policies were abandoned tomorrow? That (...) would also be trillions of pounds."
