Your views on Local Nature Recovery Strategy

The Devon Local Nature Recovery Strategy is now out in draft form - and ready for your feedback! The Strategy was developed by Devon County Council in collaboration with a wide range of partners. It is designed to help us reverse declines in nature by identifying what we most need to do and where we most need to do it.

Devon's Local Nature Recovery Strategy (LNRS) gives an overview of Devon’s wildlife and sets out priorities and actions to help nature recover. It’s a tool to help us all do our bit to create a wildlife-rich Devon, today and for generations to come.

The draft Devon strategy:
• Sets draft priorities and actions to guide nature recovery
• Includes lots of information about Devon’s habitats and species
• Is for everyone

The strategy is out for public consultation until the 5th November 2025. Please explore the Strategy website and then complete the consultation questionnaire. We’d welcome your feedback.

There’s lots of great work going on across Devon to help nature. We’d love to know what you’re doing. Whether you’ve dug a pond, planted a woodland or a restored a wildflower meadow, please let us know by adding it to the Viewer.

How is the Council involved?

All public authorities have a duty to conserve and enhance biodiversity and must have ‘regard’ to the relevant LNRS in this process. Devon County Council is the appointed Responsible Authority for Devon’s LNRS. Mid Devon District Council is a Supporting Authority for the LNRS, along with other local authorities and Natural England. The Council's Cabinet 05 August 2025 gave approval for Devon’s draft LNRS to go out to public consultation.
